Peace of mind -- The gift that keeps on giving
If you are like me, each year, I struggle with gift ideas for my family. I go shopping with good intentions and aimlessly peruse websites and stores for that special something. While sometimes I am successful at finding a unique or an awesome unexpected gift, wireless Beats, Echo, a rare bottle of Bourbon, a lot of times, I just don't know what to get for the people who have everything.
This year is different. For 2017, I am giving myself and those around me, the Gift of Peace of Mind. Next time I get on a plane, everyone will know that my Will and Power of Attorney are up to date and where they are located-- I promise!
What is Peace of Mind, you ask? Peace of Mind may be described as a feeling of calm or not being worried. Who doesn't want that gift? Sign me up! While we can't control world politics, our kid's athletic schedules or endless emails and constant texts, we can control our financial, health and planning needs -- and now is the time!
What does Peace of Mind look like for you and your family? I would suggest a new or reviewed Last Will and Testament that takes in account all the changes in your life, such as the birth of grandchildren, divorcing or re-marrying, and acquiring sons- and daughters in-law; a Power of Attorney appoints someone to handle your affairs if suddenly you cannot and, finally, a Health Care Directive answers the questions, "What happens if you get sick? and Whom do you want to make those decisions?"
This Christmas, give the gift of Peace of Mind to yourself, your children or even your parents. Put your affairs in order. Don't wait for the stress of a critical diagnosis, unexpected accident or the fear of taking a flight. A few documents will alleviate the need to be weighed down by uncertainty. Contact Attorneys Bill Vinsko, Brian Vinsko or myself to give yourself and your loved ones the gift of peace of mind.
Best wishes for a Healthy and Happy Holiday Season and of course, Peace of Mind.
